Kingsley Agyemang’s Lawyers Deny Corruption Allegations, Say Former Scholarship Secretariat Registrar Will Be Vindicated
Lawyers for the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South and former Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, have rejected what they describe as false and misleading allegations made against their client by Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Sabah Zita Benson.
In a press statement dated August 13, 2026, law firm Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners said Dr. Agyemang maintains that he performed his duties as Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat with diligence and denies any wrongdoing.
The lawyers said investigations into alleged corruption surrounding the award of scholarships during the previous administration have already been initiated, as acknowledged by the High Commissioner.
They therefore criticised the High Commissioner’s decision to publicly comment on the matter, arguing that the appropriate security and investigative agencies should be allowed to conduct their work.
According to the lawyers, this is not the first time the High Commissioner has made what they described as “wild allegations” despite ongoing investigations by state security and investigative agencies.
They stated that Dr. Agyemang has made himself available to the relevant authorities and has fully cooperated with them to facilitate a thorough investigation.
The legal team further maintained that their client remains committed to the rule of law and due process and continues to focus on faithfully discharging the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Abuakwa South.
The lawyers expressed confidence that the investigations would ultimately establish the facts and that Dr. Agyemang would be vindicated.
