E/R: Kwahu West MCE Urges Residents to Pay Taxes to Fast-Track Development

The Municipal Chief Executive for Kwahu West Municipal Assembly, _Hon. Tamimu Halidu_, has called on residents to honor their tax obligations to support development projects across the municipality.


He made the appeal during the Assembly’s maiden “Community Engagement” tour, held in five communities: _Abetensu, Nkawana No. 1, Asuoso, Kwahu Nsabaa, and Nkawana No. 2_. The initiative is aimed at getting firsthand feedback on challenges facing residents and to strengthen dialogue between local authorities and community members.



Hon. Halidu said the engagement was to present the Assembly’s achievements, ongoing projects, and interventions, while also listening to residents’ concerns, suggestions, and aspirations. 


According to him, the Assembly has made significant progress in improving infrastructure and service delivery through collaboration with government agencies, development partners, and local stakeholders. However, he stressed that more can be achieved with increased revenue from taxes and tolls, which complement the government’s Common Fund for development.


He urged residents to support the Assembly by paying their taxes promptly to ensure the timely completion of projects that benefit the entire municipality.


Some residents who spoke at the forums commended the MCE and the Assembly for organizing the engagement and for creating a platform to address local concerns. They described it as a step that will strengthen collaboration between the Assembly and the people.


The residents also used the opportunity to appeal for key developmental needs, including a CHPS compound, school buildings, and the reshaping of road networks, among others.

Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, the parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South Constituency, has extended a generous hand to support local youth and artisans.
