Traditional leaders in Akyem Abuakwa have reaffirmed their commitment to national development by pledging support to government initiatives in education, agriculture, and healthcare. The pledge was made during the 2025 Ohumkan Festival held at Akyem Tafo Rovers Park on Saturday, June 21. Speaking at the grand durbar, Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV, Chief of Akyem Tafo, called on the government to prioritize support for educational infrastructure, particularly at WBM Zion Senior High School. He noted that the Free SHS policy has significantly increased student enrollment, creating a pressing need for additional classrooms, dormitories, and furniture at the school’s new site.   Akyem Maase, Eastern Region — As part of this year’s Ohum Festival celebrations, Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem I, Chief of Akyem Maase, has made a heartfelt appeal to the Government of Ghana and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to expedite the establishment of a police station in the community. Speaking to journalist Nana Kwasi Asare during the festive occasion, the Chief noted that there is an old, dilapidated agricultural office building in the town that could easily be renovated and repurposed as a police station. Despite several appeals in the past, the project has seen little progress.
