NPP DELEGATES URGED TO CHOOSE STRATEGIC LEADERS AHEAD OF 2028 — AFOKO, SAHA MUMMEY

KOFORIDUA, ER — National Chairmanship aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Paul Afoko, and National Treasurer contender Dr Alhaji Saha Mummey have urged party delegates in the Eastern Region to elect leaders with the experience, strategic vision and capacity to mobilise resources as the party prepares for its 2028 political campaign.


Speaking to delegates during his regional campaign tour, Mr Afoko said the NPP’s objective of returning to government in 2028 would require strong internal organisation, unity and effective resource mobilisation.


Mr Afoko, a former National Chairman of the party, highlighted his previous experience in the position and said it had equipped him with institutional knowledge that could be brought to bear on the party’s reorganisation and efforts to strengthen its structures.


He has previously outlined an agenda centred on reuniting, restructuring and strengthening the NPP, with emphasis on rebuilding grassroots structures and restoring unity within the party.


Dr Alhaji Saha Mummey, who is seeking the position of National Treasurer, also called for strategic leadership and effective financial mobilisation to support the party’s activities.


Drawing on his experience as a former District Chief Executive, Dr Mummey said his networks and proposed financial mobilisation strategies would enable him to contribute to strengthening the party’s financial base.


He also outlined initiatives aimed at promoting peace, harmony and cooperation among party members, describing unity as essential to the NPP’s preparations for the 2028 general elections.


The two aspirants therefore encouraged delegates to carefully consider the respective visions, experience and programmes of candidates as the NPP’s national executive elections approach.


The NPP is scheduled to hold its national executive elections on October 3, 2026. Mr Afoko is among four candidates contesting the National Chairmanship position.
