E/R: ABENA OSEI-ASARE SUPPORTS 200 BECE GRADUATES IN ATIWA EAST

The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Abena Osei-Asare, has supported 200 BECE graduates in the constituency with educational supplies and financial assistance ahead of their admission to Senior High School.


The presentation took place at the premises of the Roman Catholic Church in Anyinam on Friday, September 11, 2026.


Each beneficiary received a chop box, metal trunk, groceries, gari, shito, and GH¢1,000 to help meet some of the financial demands associated with their transition to Senior High School.


According to the MP, the beneficiaries were selected from various groupings within the constituency as part of efforts to support students who have gained admission to Senior High Schools.


Speaking on the sidelines of the presentation, Hon. Abena Osei-Asare said the initiative was aimed at easing the financial burden on parents and helping the beneficiaries begin their secondary education with the necessary support.


She also appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to reconsider BECE graduates who were not placed in Senior High Schools because they failed one or two subjects.


Hon. Abena Osei-Asare argued that every Ghanaian child deserves access to education and urged the government to find a solution for students affected by the placement situation.


She questioned whether the decision was linked to the government's plan to end the double-track system by 2027 and called on the President to reconsider the situation to ensure that no student is left behind.


The Atiwa East District Education Director, Ms. Pearl Acquah, thanked the MP for her continuous support towards improving the quality of education in the constituency.


She also commended parents and guardians for their support for their children's education and urged them to renew their commitment to the academic and moral development of their wards to help prevent delinquent behaviour in the community.


Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke to Oyerepa TV/FM Correspondent George Botha, expressed their appreciation to the MP for the support.


They commended her generosity and contribution to education in the constituency and wished her well in her political journey.
