KENAFAM Foundation Spreads Yuletide Cheer in Eastern Region

In a touching display of compassion ahead of the 2024 yuletide season, the Kena Family and Friends (KENAFAM) Foundation has extended its benevolence to two significant communities in the Eastern Region.

On December 18, the foundation donated essential items to pupils of the Ofori Panin Basic School (Unit for Children with Special Needs) in Akyem Kukuratumi. Each child received 2kg of rice, assorted drinks, and biscuits, underscoring KENAFAM’s commitment to supporting underprivileged groups during festive seasons.

In a separate act of generosity, KENAFAM Foundation also presented 15 bags of rice to the Asiakwa SOS Village. This gesture was aimed at providing relief and joy to the children and staff at the facility during the festive season.

Speaking at the donation event in Kukuratumi, Mrs. Irene Baah Asare, Project Manager of KENAFAM Foundation and Principal Human Resource Officer at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana (CRIG), emphasized the foundation’s dedication to fostering unity and love. She highlighted the importance of uplifting the vulnerable and encouraged others to emulate KENAFAM’s charitable efforts.

"We donated to this facility last year, and we are back this year to express love once again. Giving during festive occasions brings joy and happiness to both the giver and the receiver. As a charitable organization, we remain committed to our mission and encourage others to support us to do more," she said.

Mrs. Baah Asare further urged parents of children with special needs to enroll them in specialized schools to unlock their potential and reduce stigmatization. She also called on institutions, civil society organizations, and individuals to join in giving back to society, noting the profound impact such acts have on communities.

The Headmistress of the Ofori Panin Basic School, Mrs. Charity Otoo, expressed deep gratitude to KENAFAM Foundation for their consistent support. She also acknowledged contributions from Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, Member of Parliament for the area, and Hon. Dr. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, Municipal Chief Executive.

At the Asiakwa SOS Village, staff and children welcomed the donation of 15 bags of rice with joy and appreciation. The donation will help alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with feeding the children during the festive season.

KENAFAM Foundation, an NGO, continues to demonstrate unwavering dedication to its core mandate of supporting the less privileged. Since its inception, the foundation has remained a beacon of hope for many underprivileged communities in Ghana.

This year’s yuletide donations to Akyem Kukuratumi and Asiakwa underscore the foundation’s belief in the transformative power of compassion and love.
