E/R:Over 100 Elderly Celebrate Christmas with Generosity and Joy in Kwahu Obomeng

The elderly in the Kwahu Obomeng community were treated to a festive celebration during Christmas, organized by the children of the late Queen Mother, Nana Daawa Asiedua II. The event brought together over 100 aged residents, providing them with an opportunity to eat, dance, and reconnect with old friends in a heartwarming atmosphere.

Speaking on behalf of the late Queen Mother’s children, Mama Ama Wadie Amaakwei highlighted that the event was inspired by their mother’s vision of ensuring that the elderly in the community enjoy the festive season. “Our late mother believed in giving back to the community, especially to the elderly. Today, we have distributed rice, oil, and other assorted items to make their Christmas special. We pledge to continue this tradition and remain committed to their welfare and the development of Kwahu Obomeng,” she stated.

At the same event, the Chief of Kwahu Obomeng, Nana Effah Opinamang III, donated a set of brass band instruments to the youth of the community. He explained that the donation was aimed at equipping the youth with skills to play musical instruments, which would not only support community activities but also help steer them away from criminal behaviors. Nana Opinamang III extended his Christmas and New Year wishes to all, encouraging unity and progress in the community.

Beneficiaries of the event expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the late Queen Mother’s children and the Chief for their thoughtful gestures. “This support has brought smiles to our faces and given us hope. We are grateful for the kindness shown to us and pray for the organizers' success in all their endeavors,” remarked one of the elderly participants.

The event, characterized by joy and togetherness, served as a testament to the importance of honoring the elderly and fostering community bonds, especially during festive occasions.
