E/R:Vote for NPP to Ensure Stability and Development – Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo Urges Ghanaians

In an exclusive interview with Nana Kwasi Asare on Nopras 107.5 FM on Saturday, November 30, 2024, Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Co-Chairman of the NPP Manifesto Committee on Education, and former Deputy Minister of Education, made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and all NPP parliamentary candidates.

She emphasized that a decisive NPP victory is essential to prevent the challenges posed by the current hung parliament, which she argued is stalling government business and slowing down economic growth. Citing the refusal of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin, to reconvene Parliament for critical government business, Dr. Twum-Ampofo described the situation as detrimental to socio-economic development.

She specifically urged her constituents in Abuakwa North to vote for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Nana Kwame Ampaw Addo Frimpong, popularly known as Chief Buffalo, to sustain and accelerate the development in the constituency and beyond.

Dr. Twum-Ampofo lauded the Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia-led NPP government for achieving over 80% of its manifesto promises, with a focus on transformative policies such as Free SHS and TVET. These initiatives, she noted, have addressed the poor state of education under the NDC administration, which was marked by unpaid teacher salaries, lack of basic learning materials, and unpaid teacher trainee allowances.

She also highlighted that while the Free SHS and TVET policies faced some initial challenges, these lapses have been identified, and Dr. Bawumia’s prospective administration is prepared to implement measures to improve the quality of education further.

Dr. Twum-Ampofo called on Ghanaians to reject former President John Dramani Mahama’s policies, which she described as weak and unsustainable. She specifically criticized his proposal of small-scale poultry farming (referred to as "Nkoko nketenkete") for the youth, arguing that it pales in comparison to Dr. Bawumia’s plan to train one million youth in digital jobs. She stressed that Bawumia’s digital agenda promises sustainable development and real opportunities for the youth to thrive in the modern economy.

Addressing concerns about the slow pace of work on the Kukurantumi Ofori Panin SHS Junction through New Tafo to Old Tafo Engen Junction road, Dr. Twum-Ampofo thanked her constituents for their patience. She assured them that the road would be tarred before the general elections, stating that discussions with the contractor and key stakeholders had yielded positive outcomes.

Dr. Twum-Ampofo concluded by urging all eligible voters to support Dr. Bawumia and the NPP for continued development, economic stability, and better opportunities for all Ghanaians. “Let’s embrace a future of progress and prosperity under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia and the NPP,” she said.
