E/R: Mpraeso MP Empowers Top 50 BECE Students with Financial Support to Advance Education
The Member of Parliament for the Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Davis Ansah Opoku (OPK), has once again demonstrated his commitment to education by awarding financial assistance to the top 50 students in the constituency who excelled in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). This marks the third consecutive time the MP has undertaken this impactful initiative.
At a presentation ceremony, Hon. Davis Opoku distributed a sum of GHS 500 each to students who achieved aggregates between 6 and 18 in the BECE. He commended the recipients for their academic excellence and resilience, encouraging them to continue making Mpraeso proud as they transition into various Senior High Schools.
Speaking to the students, the MP emphasized the importance of taking full advantage of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, urging them to remain disciplined and focused in their studies. He also reiterated the government's commitment to supporting higher education, particularly through the funding of tertiary education for children of cocoa farmers—a policy aimed at easing financial burdens on farming families and enhancing opportunities for rural youth.
The Kwahu South Education Director, William Nyarko Frimpong, expressed profound gratitude to Hon. Opoku for his unwavering support of education in the constituency. He lauded the MP’s initiative as a significant contribution to raising the standard of education in Mpraeso. Addressing the students, he advised them to remain focused, stay disciplined, and steer clear of social vices that could derail their academic and personal growth.
This initiative not only underscores Hon. Davis Opoku’s dedication to the educational advancement of his constituents but also serves as an inspiration for students to aim higher and contribute to the development of Mpraeso.
