E/R: Juliet Johnston School Complex Holds 4th Graduation Ceremony, Celebrates Academic, Cultural and Sporting Excellence

 

Juliet Johnston School Complex at Akyem Old Tafo in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region has held its 4th Graduation Ceremony, celebrating the successful transition of 56 pupils to the next stage of their education while showcasing the school's academic, cultural and sporting excellence.

The event, held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the school's premises, saw 28 KG2 pupils graduate to Basic One, while 28 Basic Six pupils advanced to Basic 7. The colourful ceremony brought together the PTA Vice Chairperson, Madam Matilda Afi Adetsi, parents, teachers, pupils, invited guests and members of the media to celebrate the achievements of the graduating pupils.

Delivering his address, the Headmaster of Juliet Johnston M/A JHS, Mr. Richard Twum, highlighted the school's impressive achievements in academics, sports and other extracurricular activities. He revealed that the school placed first in the Member of Parliament's Reading Competition at the Kukurantumi Circuit level and emerged second among the six educational circuits in the Abuakwa North Municipality, describing the feat as evidence of the dedication and commitment of both teachers and pupils.

On sports, Mr. Twum announced that one of the school's netball players had been selected to represent Ghana at the national level, demonstrating that Juliet Johnston School Complex continues to excel both academically and in sporting activities.

He urged parents to complement the efforts of teachers by instilling discipline in their children and supporting their education, stressing that collaboration between parents and teachers is essential in raising responsible and academically successful pupils.

Representing the Abuakwa North Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Grace Adza-Awude, the Municipal Private Schools Coordinator, Mr. Tijani Mohammed Dawuud, delivered the Director's message. He commended parents for the sacrifices they make in paying school fees, transportation, feeding, uniforms and other educational expenses, emphasizing that investing in children's education is more rewarding than acquiring material possessions.

He encouraged parents to continue investing in their children's education, saying, "Education is the surest way of bringing the rich and the poor to the same round table. Let us invest in our wards." He also called for stronger collaboration among parents, teachers and other stakeholders to ensure quality education for every child.

In a goodwill message, the Co-Proprietress of Juliet Johnston School Complex, Madam Juliet Gladys Osafo, congratulated the graduating Primary Six and KG2 pupils for their hard work, dedication and achievements. She expressed profound appreciation to parents and guardians for their trust, unwavering support and partnership throughout the academic year, acknowledging their vital role in the success of their children. She also extended her heartfelt gratitude to the school's management, teaching and non-teaching staff for their commitment, professionalism and tireless efforts in nurturing the pupils academically, morally and socially, noting that their collective dedication has contributed immensely to the school's continued growth and excellence.

She appealed to parents with outstanding school fees to make every effort to settle them promptly, explaining that timely payment enables the school to provide quality teaching, adequate learning resources and a conducive learning environment for all pupils. She encouraged the graduates to continue dreaming big, working hard and upholding the values they have learned, expressing confidence in their bright future.

The colourful ceremony featured a poetry recital and captivating performances by the school's Apatampa, Adowa, Borborbor and Choreography Dance Groups, which thrilled guests and added excitement to the celebration.

In another goodwill message, the Co-Founders of the school, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Johnston, congratulated the graduating pupils and encouraged them to continue studying hard to make their parents, teachers, themselves and the founders proud. They wished the pupils a pleasant vacation and urged them to return for the next academic year refreshed, determined and ready to aim even higher.

The ceremony ended with a renewed commitment from the school's management, parents and the Ghana Education Service to continue working together to provide quality education and nurture the next generation of responsible leaders.
