Kibi Technical Institute in the Eastern Region has graduated 470 students during its second graduation ceremony held on June 6, 2026, under the theme, “Empowering Skill, Shaping Future.” The event brought together education stakeholders, opinion leaders, parents, and members of the public to celebrate the achievements of the graduates and the institute's contribution to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Addressing the gathering, the Principal of the institute, Mr. Isaac Nana Yaw Adom, highlighted the school's progress while drawing attention to several infrastructural challenges hindering its development. According to him, the institution lacks essential facilities such as a students’ dormitory, dining hall, standard kitchen, adequate places of convenience, and staff accommodation.

He explained that the school's current student population of 1,861 continues to rely on aging infrastructure, a situation that places significant pressure on teaching and learning activities. Mr. Adom appealed to government, non-governmental organizations, civil society groups, and benevolent individuals to support the institute in addressing these challenges.

The Principal further emphasized the importance of TVET in national development, noting that technical and vocational education equips students with practical and employable skills that enable them to establish their own businesses and contribute meaningfully to economic growth. He encouraged parents to enroll their wards in TVET institutions to prepare them for the demands of the modern job market.

                        Rev Dr Charles Ofosu Ayarkwa

The Chairman of the School's Governing Board and Principal of Kibi Presbyterian College of Education, Rev. Dr. Charles Ofosu Ayarkwa, commended the management and staff of the institute for the remarkable growth in student enrollment and infrastructure development over the years. He also praised government efforts aimed at promoting TVET across the country.

Rev. Dr. Ayarkwa, however, stressed that increasing enrollment must be matched with adequate teaching staff and improved facilities to maintain educational standards. He urged Ghanaians to embrace technical and vocational education as a practical solution to youth unemployment and a catalyst for national development.

                        Ms. Faustina Asiedu

One of the graduates, Ms. Faustina Asiedu, who completed a course in Fashion Design and is a person with disability, shared her inspiring journey. She recounted how TVET had transformed her life by equipping her with valuable skills despite the challenges associated with her disability. She encouraged other persons with disabilities to take advantage of technical and vocational education opportunities to become self-reliant and economically empowered.

Ms. Asiedu also appealed to organizations, philanthropists, and the general public to support her efforts to establish her own fashion business after graduation.

Currently, Kibi Technical Institute offers seven academic and vocational programmes, namely Electrical Engineering, Building and Construction, Plumbing, Automobile Engineering, Woodwork Technology, Fashion Design, and Computer Hardware. Management announced that two additional programmes—Cosmetology and Welding and Fabrication—will be introduced in the next academic year to expand opportunities for students.
