  Hajia Mariam Mohammed, a key coordinator of the upcoming Elatom Conference in Ghana, today received high-level delegations from Japan and Russia at the Kotoka International Airport ahead of the event scheduled for Friday, 5th December 2025. After their arrival, Hajia Mariam Mohammed led the delegation to the Ministry of Energy, where they were warmly received by the Deputy Minister, Hon. Richard Gyan-Mensah. In his remarks, the Deputy Minister noted that the Ministry’s primary role is policy formulation and implementation to drive Ghana’s energy agenda.   The Abuakwa South Municipal NADMO Secretariat  has officially requested a meeting with the management of Bunso Eco Park as part of its Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) activities for the upcoming festive season. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 9th December 2025, at Bunso in the Eastern Region.  According to the letter signed by the Municipal Director, Mr. Aikins Ofori, NADMO aims to ensure a safe and well-prepared environment as visitor numbers are expected to increase during the Christmas and New Year celebrations. E/R:Obodase Residents Live in Fear as Suspected Attacker Terrorizes Farmers

  Residents of Obodase, a predominantly farming community in the Abuakwa North Municipality of the Eastern Region, say they are living in fear following a series of violent incidents allegedly linked to a man identified as Papa Kwame. The latest incident occurred when 54-year-old cocoa farmer and photographer, Mr. Joseph Tei Mensah, confronted the suspect for allegedly cutting down his cocoa trees. The confrontation escalated, leading to an attack in which Mr. Mensah sustained injuries to his left palm. He was rescued by nearby residents who rushed to the scene after hearing his cries for help. The suspect reportedly fled before more support arrived. Mr. Mensah was later taken to the New Tafo Government Hospital for treatment. The case has been reported to the Akyem Tafo District Police Command, and investigations are ongoing to track down the suspect.   The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has described as unacceptable the continued lack of electricity and mobile network coverage in several communities within the constituency despite the year being 2025. Speaking on the matter, the MP emphasized that many residents still struggle with basic amenities such as power supply, a situation she believes is hindering development, education, security, and economic activities in the area. She further stressed that there is an urgent need for transformers in every community across Amenfi Central to ensure equitable access to electricity and improve the quality of life for residents. According to her, improving mobile network connectivity should also be treated as a priority, as it plays a vital role in communication, business, and emergency response.   The Abuakwa North Municipal HIV/AIDS Committee has organized a public sensitization exercise at the Akyem New Tafo Government Hospital OPD to commemorate World AIDS Day, observed globally on December 1 to raise awareness on HIV and strengthen prevention efforts. During the engagement, the committee educated residents on the rising rate of HIV infections, prevention strategies, early testing, and proper treatment adherence. Members of the public received counselling and health information aimed at reducing new infections within the municipality. Speaking at the sidelines of the event, Madam Mamatta Alhassan Abdulai, spokesperson for the committee, expressed deep concern over the continuous rise in new cases. She disclosed that the municipality recorded 123 new HIV cases between January and July 2025, with the next quarter’s figures yet to be released.
