Treat Politicians as Agents of Development, Not Father Christmas – NDC C/R Deputy Secretary Hopeful

Central Region – Anas Ahmed, who is vying for Central Regional Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, has urged voters to stop electing leaders based on short-term handouts and to instead assess them on their capacity to deliver development.

In a statement, Mr. Ahmed cautioned electorates against being swayed by what he described as “fake love, generosity and care” displayed by some politicians during election periods.

“The gospel truth is that anytime money exchanges hands, some of these individuals see it as an investment,” he said. “They expect a return, and once they get what they want, they disappear until the next election cycle.”

According to him, money sent via mobile money or distributed directly to voters is not charity, but a transaction aimed at securing votes.

“My brothers and sisters, do not fall into the trap of these syndicates. They are fake,” Mr. Ahmed stated. “Yes, this is the bitter truth and we must accept it, or we will continue to ridicule ourselves in the name of multi-party democracy.”

He called on constituents to treat politicians as agents of development rather than as “Father Christmas,” and to prioritize leaders with a clear vision for progress over those offering temporary gifts.

“A word to the wise is enough,” he added.
