Family of Late Daddy Lumba Invites Former President Akufo-Addo to December 13 Funeral
A delegation from the family of the late Ghanaian highlife icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has paid a courtesy call on former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to officially invite him to the musician’s upcoming funeral.
The delegation, led by the family head Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, also known as Abusuapanin Tupac, visited the former president at his office on Wednesday, 10th December 2025. The visit formed part of the family’s formal engagements with national leaders and key personalities ahead of the final funeral rites scheduled for Saturday, 13th December 2025.
Daddy Lumba, regarded as one of Ghana’s most influential and celebrated highlife musicians, passed away earlier in 2025. His death united the nation in grief, with tributes pouring in from across the world to honour his decades-long contribution to Ghanaian music and culture. Since the announcement of his passing, the family has been preparing a series of memorial events, culminating in the final funeral rites on December 13.
The family expressed appreciation to former President Akufo-Addo for his longstanding admiration of the late musician and his willingness to join Ghanaians in giving Daddy Lumba a befitting farewell. Preparations toward the funeral are expected to continue in the coming days, with dignitaries, musicians, industry stakeholders, and fans anticipated to gather in honour of the legendary artiste.
