The Kabaka Foundation has launched a nationwide campaign to sensitize students on the dangers of drug abuse, beginning with an engagement at St. Peter’s Senior High School in Kwahu Nkwatia, Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region.

He noted that as part of efforts to address the menace, the Foundation, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Psychiatric Hospital in Koforidua, has cut sod for the construction of a modern Mental Health Hospital to help curb rising cases of substance abuse.
He explained that the campaign, which officially kicked off at St. Peter’s SHS, will extend to various Senior High Schools across the country to educate students and promote youth development.
On her part, Dr. Gyanwaa Opare Addo, a Specialist Psychiatrist at the Eastern Regional Psychiatric Hospital, advised students to stay away from drugs to protect their future and mental well-being. She described drug abuse as a growing menace fueled largely by peer pressure and lack of knowledge about its dangers. Dr. Opare Addo urged students to seek professional guidance and make use of counseling units in schools rather than relying on misleading advice from peers.
Adding a personal testimony, Mr. Prince Doe Gbeblewu, a Drug Abuse Ambassador who previously battled drug addiction for 16 years, shared his experience with the students.
