SHS Student Dies by Suicide After Boyfriend Is Arrested, Family and School in Shock

A Senior High School student has died by suicide after an incident involving the arrest of her alleged boyfriend, police and school sources say.


The girl, who lived in a school boarding house, reportedly signed an exeat to return home but instead went to visit the boyfriend. Her father later visited the school looking for her and was told by the housemistress that his daughter had taken an exeat to go home. Unable to find her, the father went to the boyfriend’s residence and had him arrested, according to reports.


Following the arrest, the distraught student — said to have opposed her father’s action — was found dead after ingesting a substance. Authorities have opened inquiries to confirm the exact circumstances surrounding the death, and the school has expressed shock at the development.


Local leaders, family members and school officials are expected to comment further as investigations continue. The community has been urged to remain calm and allow investigators to complete their work.
