E/R:Toyota Corolla Burns to Ashes After Crash with Truck at Atwemamena


A road accident occurred on the morning of Thursday, 4th September 2025, at Atwemamena in the Eastern Region on the Accra–Kumasi Highway, involving a Toyota Corolla saloon car with registration numberDV 2059 W and a Kia Rhino truck with registration number AS 2957-20.

Eyewitnesses reported that both vehicles were heading in the same direction from Accra to Kumasi when the Toyota Corolla attempted a wrongful overtaking maneuver. The driver of the saloon car quickly rejoined its lane, but the truck crashed into its rear, triggering a fire that engulfed the Corolla.


The vehicle was completely burnt to ashes; however, no fatalities were recorded. As at the time of filing this report, the casualties had been rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.


Fire officers from the Bunso Command of the Ghana National Fire Service swiftly responded to a distress call and managed to extinguish the flames.

The case has since been handed over to the Suhum Police Command for further investigation.
