Ghana Immigration Officer Killed in Tragic Hit-and-Run Near Accra Passport Office

Accra, July 20, 2025 — A tragic incident occurred at dawn today near the Accra Passport Office at Tema Station, as an officer of the Ghana Immigration Service was found dead in a pool of blood following a hit-and-run.


The deceased, identified as AICOII Japhet, a member of Intake 28 of the Ghana Immigration Service and stationed at the Greater Accra Regional Command, was initially suspected to have been murdered. However, further accounts from eyewitnesses have confirmed that he was knocked down by a speeding vehicle.


According to an eyewitness account, the officer had parked his vehicle to attend to a minor accident involving another car. After attempting to repair the damaged vehicle, he was returning to his own car when a speeding vehicle struck him, killing him on the spot.


The driver responsible for the incident has since been arrested and is assisting police with ongoing investigations.


Authorities are yet to release an official statement as investigations continue.
