E/R:Abeiku Accuses Atiwa East DCE of Illegal Mining; Calls on President Mahama to Intervene
Mr. Daniel Mensah, popularly known as Abeiku, has launched a serious accusation against the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East, Hon. Owusu Ntim Ernest, alleging his involvement in illegal mining activities that are causing massive environmental destruction.
In a strongly worded statement, Abeiku claimed that the DCE has unlawfully encroached on his legally registered 100-acre land, carrying out destructive mining operations that are polluting nearby water bodies and devastating the natural ecosystem.
He called on the current President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to take immediate action by ordering the arrest of both himself and the DCE. According to him, this move will help reveal the truth about who is truly responsible for the ongoing environmental damage in the area.
“I am challenging the authorities, especially President Mahama, to intervene and allow the law to work. Arrest both of us and investigate thoroughly, so Ghanaians can know who is destroying our lands and rivers,” Abeiku stated.
He further appealed to the government to act with urgency, stressing the need for a swift intervention to prevent further destruction of lands, farmlands, and water resources that serve thousands of residents in Atiwa East and its surrounding communities.
The allegation comes at a time when the nation is grappling with the consequences of illegal mining, which continues to threaten Ghana’s natural heritage and water security. Environmental activists and concerned citizens are watching closely, as this case may be a test of the government’s resolve in the fight against illegal mining.
