Valco Hall Alumni Honours Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo for Outstanding Leadership in Politics


The Alumni Association of Valco Hall at the University of Cape Coast has honoured Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North and former Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), for her exemplary leadership and outstanding contribution to Ghanaian politics.


At a special ceremony organized by the alumni group, Dr. Twum-Ampofo was celebrated for her commitment to public service, particularly in the areas of education, youth development, and women empowerment. The event also recognized her trailblazing role in the promotion of TVET as a critical pathway for national development during her tenure in government.


Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, who served as Vice President of Valco Hall between 1994 and 1996 during her student days at the University of Cape Coast, was praised for her leadership legacy which continues to inspire many, especially young women in politics and academia.


Speaking at the event, representatives of the alumni lauded her dedication, resilience, and visionary approach to leadership. They highlighted how her journey from student leadership to national politics serves as a beacon of hope and a model for the next generation of leaders.


In her acceptance speech, Dr. Twum-Ampofo expressed gratitude to the Valco Hall Alumni Association for the recognition. She reflected on her time at UCC as a defining period in her life, one that laid the foundation for her public service career. She encouraged young alumni to pursue excellence, embrace leadership roles, and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.


This honour adds to the many accolades Dr. Twum-Ampofo has received over the years for her service and dedication to national development. Her story remains a powerful testament to the enduring impact of student leadership and its potential to shape future leaders.
