G/R:Hajia Mariam Dzifa Mohammed Calls for Unity in Community Development and Urges Swift Action on Amasaman-Pokuase Roads
Amasaman, Ghana – May 25, 2025
Hajia Mariam Dzifa Mohammed, a prominent political figure and development advocate, has called on government appointees, particularly those who feel sidelined by political appointments, to put aside grievances and actively contribute to the development of their communities.
Speaking to the media during an engagement in Amasaman, Hajia Mariam—who is the former NDC parliamentary aspirant for Amasaman Constituency, former National Women Organizer for Zongo for Mahama, former GA West MCE aspirant, Executive Deputy Secretary of ADAM GH, and President of Voice of the Nation Ghana—stressed the importance of unity and a non-partisan approach toward local development.
“Community development is a shared responsibility and should be devoid of emotional sentiments,” she stated. “We are beneficiaries of the very communities we live in. Whether or not you hold a government position, your role in national growth is essential.”
She urged all Ghanaians, especially those disappointed by political outcomes, not to disengage but to be active participants in development efforts. “Central government cannot immediately attend to every local issue,” she noted, “but through our collective efforts, we can support H.E. John Dramani Mahama in delivering on his promises to Ghanaians.”
Hajia Mariam also issued a heartfelt appeal to former President Mahama, calling for urgent rehabilitation of critical sections of the Accra-Kumasi Highway, particularly around Pokuase and Amasaman.
“These roads are death traps,” she warned. “The stretch forms part of an international highway, and its current state endangers the lives of both commuters and pedestrians daily. Swift intervention is necessary.”
In a show of confidence in the NDC's economic agenda, she also praised Mahama for the signs of economic recovery seen under his influence.
“The appreciation of the Ghana Cedi is a testament to sound economic vision and a hopeful signal for the future,” she said. “It indicates a path toward stability, effective governance, and meaningful nation-building.”
Hajia Mariam's remarks come at a time when conversations about grassroots participation and national reconciliation are increasingly critical, especially as the country prepares for its next general elections.
