E/R:Krontihene of Akyem Asuom Hails Mahama’s First 120 Days, Predicts Long-Term NDC Dominance

The Krontihene of Akyem Asuom, Nana Boadi Amponim Obodade III, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as an "exceptionally good" start to his first 120 days in office, calling it a sign of a brighter future for Ghana under the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

In an interview, Nana Obodade expressed his appreciation to the people of Kwaebibirem for their support of local governance in the area, and extended gratitude to the President for appointing Emmanuel Kofinti as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the region.

He pledged the full support of his community for the new MCE, vowing to stand firmly behind him as he works to improve the lives of the people.

Reflecting on President Mahama’s early performance, Nana Obodade stated, “So far, so, so, so good. Some of us took to platforms and social media, braving threats and insults because we knew what he stood for. Today, we can confidently say that President Mahama is performing excellently.”

He drew a bold comparison, claiming Mahama’s leadership is “a million miles” ahead of his predecessor’s, and went further to say that the former president now stands alongside Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, in terms of visionary leadership.

The Krontihene also forecasted long-term political dominance for the NDC, asserting that the party’s “Reset Ghana” agenda is not a short-term initiative but a long-term vision that stretches beyond 2028.

He predicted that Ghanaians would grant the NDC another 20 years in power, enabling the party to consolidate national progress and institutional stability.

“This reset agenda is about building a Ghana that works – a Ghana where our health systems, infrastructure, and institutions are the envy of all Black African nations,” he said. “By 2048, I believe our systems will be so strong that no leader, regardless of their political persuasion, will be able to derail the progress we have made.”

Nana Obodade’s remarks come as the NDC intensifies efforts to consolidate power and build on President Mahama’s early momentum, setting the stage for what could be a defining period in Ghana’s political history.
