E/R:Hon Dr Gifty Twum-Ampofo Donates to Victims and Youth in Akyem Ati Community
Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North and former Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), has extended a heartfelt gesture of support to the people of Akyem Ati in the Eastern Region.
During a visit to the community on Saturday, May 31, 2025, Dr. Twum-Ampofo presented six footballs to the Queen Mother of Akyem Ati, Nana Amoafoa Bremponmaa II, in support of youth development and sporting activities. The footballs, she explained, would serve as a boost for the upcoming Ohum Festival Gala, an annual community football event that brings together youth from various parts of the town to promote unity and talent development.
In addition to the footballs, Dr. Twum-Ampofo donated two pieces of high-quality wax prints to the grieving mother of the late Okyere Eugene, a two-year-old child who tragically lost his life when a building collapsed on him in Ayigbe Town, a suburb of Akyem Ati. The gesture, while symbolic, was intended to offer some comfort and solidarity to the bereaved family during their difficult time.
As part of her humanitarian outreach, the former MP also presented a wheelchair to Raymond Boadu, a resident of the community who recently suffered a life-altering injury. Boadu was electrocuted in a tragic accident and had to undergo amputation of his left arm. The wheelchair is expected to ease his mobility challenges and support his recovery journey.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Dr. Twum-Ampofo revealed that the donations were made in response to a direct request from the Queen Mother of Akyem Ati, Nana Amoafoa Bremponmaa II, who brought the needs of her people to her attention. She expressed her continuous commitment to the welfare of the constituents and communities within the Abuakwa North area, even though she no longer holds public office.
The Queen Mother, upon receiving the donations, expressed profound appreciation to Dr. Twum-Ampofo for her unwavering support to the community over the years. She praised her for consistently responding to the needs of the people, especially in times of distress, and highlighted the positive impact her interventions have made in the lives of many.
Together with the Queen Mother, Dr. Twum-Ampofo visited the home of Raymond Boadu, where the family warmly received her. The family expressed deep gratitude for the timely support and recognized her as a compassionate leader who continues to serve her people with humility and generosity.
This latest act of kindness by Hon. Dr. Gifty Twum-Ampofo adds to a long list of developmental and humanitarian contributions she has made in the Abuakwa North Constituency and beyond, reaffirming her reputation as a caring and proactive public servant.
