W/R:Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe Supports Community Teachers with GHS 89,760 Salary Advance
Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central Constituency, has demonstrated her commitment to improving education in rural communities by paying a four-month salary advance to 32 community teaching assistants. The advance covers salaries from February 2025 to May 2025 in some schools, while in others, it spans April 2025 to July 2025.
The initiative benefits eight communities across the constituency. The beneficiary schools include Bredi D/A Basic School in the Agona Camp Electoral Area, which costs 2,700 GHS per month for 206 pupils. Dwete D/A Basic School in the Sumpre Electoral Area, which costs 2,400 GHS per month for three teachers serving 146 pupils. Anomatewa D/A Primary School in the Kyeikrom Electoral Area, which costs 2,140 GHS per month for 107 pupils. Atonsu Community School in the Manso Amenfi Electoral Area, which costs 5,000 GHS per month for five teachers serving 157 pupils. House of Joy Preparatory School (Manukrom) in the Kwamang Electoral Area, which costs 3,000 GHS per month for six teachers and 147 pupils. Amuni D/A Basic School in the Amuni Electoral Area, which costs 1,600 GHS per month for two teachers and 246 pupils. Amuni R/C Basic School in the Amuni Electoral Area, which costs 3,200 GHS per month for four teachers and 204 pupils. Fureso D/A Primary in the Dwirigum Electoral Area, which costs 2,400 GHS per month for three teachers.
The total monthly cost of salaries for the 32 teachers stands at 22,440 GHS, bringing the four-month advance payment to 89,760 GHS. Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe has pledged to sustain this initiative annually at an estimated cost of 269,280 GHS. Payments will be made every four months to ensure continuity and stability in the education system.
This intervention seeks to address teacher shortages in rural communities, alleviate financial burdens on parents, and improve the quality of education and learning outcomes in the constituency.
A delegation led by Kofi Amissah, the Constituency Organizer, and Peter Amponsah, the Deputy Constituency Secretary, disbursed the payments on behalf of the MP. The funds were received by NDC branch executives, traditional leaders (Nananom), School Management Committees (SMCs), school administrators, and PTA executives on behalf of the beneficiary communities. Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s proactive approach to education funding underscores her dedication to the development of Amenfi Central, ensuring that every child has access to quality education despite financial constraints.
