E/R:Parents Must Take Responsibility to Curb Indiscipline and Unethical Conduct – Chief of Kwahu Tafo Advises

Parents have been urged to take an active role in guiding their children against indiscipline, violence, and immoral conduct, which have increasingly become a national security concern.

Speaking at a gathering at his palace, Nana Opoku Mintah II, Chief of Kwahu Tafo, expressed concern over recent reports indicating a rise in violent and undisciplined behavior among students and the youth. He emphasized the need for parents to build stronger relationships with their children, providing them with proper counsel and moral guidance to help them avoid negative influences and shape a brighter future.

Addressing the youth directly, Nana Opoku Mintah II advised them to resist negative peer pressure and unethical behavior, urging them to focus on their education as a pathway to success.

He further called on the government to reconsider allowing teachers to enforce discipline in schools by reintroducing corporal punishment. According to him, teachers play a crucial role in shaping students' behavior, and restoring disciplinary measures would help curb rising misconduct and instill responsibility in students.

In addition to disciplinary actions, Nana Opoku Mintah II suggested that security measures such as CCTV cameras and metal detectors should be installed at school entrances. He believes such measures would enhance safety for both students and teachers, especially in light of recent incidents in senior high schools.

The chief's remarks underscore the growing concerns about youth behavior and the collective responsibility of parents, educators, and policymakers in addressing the issue.
