E/R:Abuakwa North Marks 68th Independence Day with a Call to Reflect, Review, and Reset
The 68th Independence Day anniversary celebration was held at St. Paul’s Technical Institute Football Park in Kukurantumi, Eastern Region, on March 6, 2025, under the theme *"Reflect, Review, and Reset."*
The event brought together key dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Hon. Nana Kwame Addo Ampaw Frempong; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Emil Tawiah Atsu; the Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Grace Adza-Awude; traditional leaders; and heads of departments.
In his address, Hon. Ampaw Frempong expressed deep concern over the rising rate of drug abuse among the youth in the municipality. He urged parents to take responsibility in guiding their children to prevent delinquent behaviors. He also called for unity and cohesion to drive development in the municipality. Additionally, he congratulated Daasebre Boamah Darko II on his appointment as a Council of State member, acknowledging the honor and responsibility it brings to the Abuakwa North community.
Delivering the President’s anniversary speech on behalf of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Emil Tawiah Atsu encouraged all citizens to support efforts to review and reset the country for progress across all sectors.
Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Grace Adza-Awude, in her welcome address, emphasized the significance of the occasion, urging the people of Abuakwa North to reflect on Ghana’s journey, review its progress and challenges, and reset priorities for a brighter future. She reminded students of their role in shaping the nation’s destiny and encouraged them to uphold values of hard work, integrity, and patriotism.
The ceremony also recognized academic excellence, as students who performed exceptionally in the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) received educational materials and cash prizes. Additionally, schools that excelled in the anniversary march-past were awarded for their outstanding performances.
