President Mahama Forms Constitutional Review Committee to Strengthen Governance


President John Dramani Mahama has fulfilled his commitment to advancing constitutional reforms by establishing a Constitutional Review Committee. This initiative underscores his dedication to addressing challenges in implementing previous review processes and enhancing democratic governance in Ghana.

The committee, chaired by renowned constitutional law expert Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, comprises eminent personalities with vast experience in governance and public administration. The full membership includes:

  1. Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh - Chairman
  2. Justice Sophia Adinyirah - Member
  3. Prof. Kwame Karikari - Member
  4. Mrs. Charlotte Osei - Member
  5. Dr. Godwin Djokoto - Member
  6. Ibrahim Tanko Amidu - Member
  7. Dr. Esi Ansah - Member
  8. Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya - Secretary

The committee's primary mandate is to identify gaps and challenges in implementing recommendations from the 2010 Constitution Review Commission and the 2023 Constitution Review Consultative Committee. It will engage key stakeholders to gather views on amending the 1992 Constitution and make actionable recommendations to improve democratic governance.



By appointing individuals of proven expertise and dedication, President Mahama demonstrates his commitment to inclusive and effective governance. The committee is expected to submit its recommendations for constitutional amendments within five months for government consideration.

This move reflects the President’s resolve to fortify Ghana’s democratic framework, ensuring that the Constitution remains responsive to the nation's evolving needs.
