E/R:Three Shortlisted for Abuakwa North MCE Position

Following a rigorous vetting process on January 27, 2025, the committee overseeing the selection of Municipal Chief Executives (MCEs) in the Eastern Region has shortlisted three candidates for the position of MCE for Abuakwa North Municipal Assembly.

The three candidates are:

Lateef Adjani



Charles Darko Yeboah



Cudjoe Adukpo

These shortlisted individuals have demonstrated strong leadership qualities, community engagement skills, and a deep understanding of the development needs of Abuakwa North Municipality. Their names will be forwarded to President John Dramani Mahama, who will make the final selection.

The appointment of an MCE is a crucial decision as the role involves spearheading local governance, overseeing development projects, and ensuring the effective implementation of government policies at the municipal level.

Stakeholders and residents of Abuakwa North are eagerly awaiting the President’s final decision, hoping for an MCE who will prioritize youth empowerment, infrastructure development, and economic growth in the constituency.

The Chief of Coaltar in the Eastern Region, Barima Asiedu Okekrebesi II, has been destooled following a violent clash in Kraboa, a farming community in the Ayensuano District, which led to the tragic deaths of two individuals. The destoolment was officially announced by a delegation of traditional leaders (Nananom), led by the Apapamhene and Amantuomiensahene, Osabarima Okogyeaman Apagya Fori. The delegation carried out the customary destoolment process at the Coaltar Palace. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, January 16, 2025, stemmed from growing tensions over alleged illegal land sales and crop destruction in the area. Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, the parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South Constituency, has extended a generous hand to support local youth and artisans. In a heartwarming ceremony held at Akyem Maase, Dr. Agyeman, along with key New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives, donated essential equipment and financial support to aspiring apprentices in dressmaking and hairdressing.
