David Prah Resigns as Director-General of Ghana TVET Service

The Director-General of the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, David Prah, has officially resigned from his position, effective Monday, January 27, 2025.

In a formal resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Prah cited his decision as a necessary step to pursue other career opportunities and personal goals.

Expressing gratitude for his tenure at the Ghana TVET Service, he highlighted the achievements made under his leadership in advancing the TVET transformational agenda. He also reaffirmed his belief that TVET plays a crucial role in improving the economic fortunes of Ghana’s youth.

To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Mr. Prah pledged to assist in handing over his responsibilities to the next appointed Director-General.

In his resignation letter, he extended appreciation to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and the Ministry of Education for the confidence they placed in him to drive TVET reforms.

Mr. Prah also wished President Mahama, his Cabinet, and especially the new Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, well in their roles.

His resignation marks the end of a significant era in Ghana’s TVET sector, as stakeholders anticipate the appointment of a new Director-General to continue the transformational efforts in technical and vocational education.
