E/R:Abena Osei-Asare Criticizes Mahama’s Poultry Initiative, Urges Youth to Back NPP

The Member of Parliament for Atiwa East, Abena Osei-Asare, has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama's promise to provide young people with small broilers (chickens) to start poultry farms if elected. She described the plan as lacking ambition and insufficient to address the nation's developmental challenges.

Speaking during a Victory Walk on Sunday, December 1, 2024, Abena Osei-Asare, who also serves as the Minister of State in charge of Finance, highlighted the need for bold and innovative leadership to propel Ghana's progress. She pointed to the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) record since assuming office in 2017, citing job creation and efforts to reduce unemployment as proof of the party's capacity to deliver results.

“Ghana requires a leader with transformative ideas, not piecemeal approaches like offering small broilers. The NPP has a proven track record of creating jobs and initiating infrastructure projects that genuinely improve lives,” she stated.

The MP encouraged residents of Atiwa East, particularly the youth, to assess the progress made under the NPP and vote decisively to sustain the momentum. She urged them to support Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential bid and re-elect her as their Member of Parliament in the December 7 elections.

Adding to the rallying call, the NPP's National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, appealed to the constituents to avoid "skirt and blouse" voting—a practice where voters choose different parties for the presidential and parliamentary ballots. He emphasized the importance of a unified vote for the NPP to facilitate the continuation of developmental projects.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, also addressed the gathering, urging all former NPP parliamentary aspirants to rally behind the party’s candidates. He stressed that unity within the party is key to maintaining political power and ensuring that committed party members are recognized and rewarded.

Abena Osei-Asare concluded by reaffirming her belief that re-electing the NPP is the best choice for Ghana's future, as the party remains committed to transforming the nation through innovative policies and projects.
