E/R:Traditional Leadership Strengthened: Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III Enstools Four Chiefs and Queens in Akyem Maase

In a historic ceremony filled with vibrant cultural expression, Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III, the Chief of Akyem Maase in the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area of Ghana's Eastern Region, bolstered his leadership structure by enstooling four subchiefs and sub-queens. The event, held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the Akyem Maase Palace, was aimed at strengthening local governance and fostering socio-economic development in the community.

Addressing the newly enstooled leaders, Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompem III emphasized the critical role they would play in driving development, unity, and discipline. He charged them to lead with humility and dedication, inspiring the community to embrace peace and collaboration.

“Leadership requires self-discipline and service,” he remarked. “I urge you to work diligently for the progress of our community, fostering harmony and unity among our people.”

The ceremony was a spectacle of Ghanaian tradition, marked by drumming, dancing, and the chanting of war songs. The Tafo District Police Command, led by Superintendent Isaac Ampofo, ensured a peaceful atmosphere throughout the event.

The newly enstooled leaders include Daniel Ahenkorah, who assumes the role of Mmrantehe (Young Men's Leader), Lawrencia Aboagyewaa Okai as Gyasehemaa (Caretaker Queen Mother), Eva Serwaa Boadi as Kyidomhemaa (Rear Guard Queen Mother), and Grace Akosua Kyere as Mmabaawahema (Young Women’s Leader). These individuals are expected to play vital roles in fostering development, unity, and progress in the Akyem Maase community.

Speaking separately during the event, the new chief and queens expressed a shared commitment to youth development, with a focus on education and vocational training to equip young people with employable skills and reduce unemployment. They each highlighted the importance of fostering unity and collaboration among the community members as a cornerstone for development. The leaders also appealed for public support in their roles and pledged to dedicate themselves to the growth and prosperity of Akyem Maase.

“We recognize the challenges facing our community, especially among the youth, and we are determined to address them through skills training and education,” one of the leaders remarked. Another added, “Unity is the foundation for progress, and we call on everyone to join us in building a stronger, united Akyem Maase.”

The colorful event saw the attendance of prominent traditional leaders, including Osabarima Atta Apeakorang Agyei II, Chief of Akyem Anyinasin; Nana Oforiwaa Obimpeh III, Queen Mother of Akyem Osiem; and Nana Agyeiwaa, Queen Mother of Akyem Asafo. The occasion was further graced by kingmakers, other subchiefs, members of the general public, and the press, reflecting its importance to the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area.

As the newly enstooled chiefs and queens take their positions, the community looks forward to a future of unity, growth, and prosperity under their stewardship.
