E/R:Akyem Maase Homecoming 2024 Launched to Celebrate Unity and Development

The second edition of the Akyem Maase Homecoming event was officially launched on October 6th, 2024, at Akyem Maase in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana. Organized by The Concerned Citizens of Maase (Truly Maasenians), the event was held under the theme "Together We Build."

The short but vibrant ceremony took place at the Akyem Maase funeral grounds and attracted hundreds of attendees from the community.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Daniel Ahenkorah, popularly known as De Don, explained that this year’s celebration, scheduled for December, will feature a series of activities, including a health walk, free health screening, a cleanup exercise, and a live band musical concert. He noted that these activities are designed to foster community spirit and encourage active participation among residents.

Mr. Ahenkorah also announced that they are collaborating with Easy Way Music Production to commemorate the late Highlife musician, Dr. Paa Bobo's ten-year anniversary as part of the homecoming event's grand finale. This addition is expected to be a highlight of the celebration, honoring the legendary musician’s contributions to Ghana's music industry.

In his speech, Mr. Ahenkorah emphasized the importance of unity among the citizens of Akyem Maase for the development of the community. He urged the youth to avoid engaging in violent activities and hate speech ahead of the 2024 general elections, calling for peace and harmony to prevail in the country.

During the event, a working committee for the celebration, chaired by Mr. Daniel Ahenkorah, was unveiled. The committee members were introduced to the attendees, along with specially designed Lacoste shirts and T-shirts to be used for the celebration.

The launch set the stage for what promises to be a memorable December celebration aimed at strengthening bonds, promoting health, and commemorating cultural heritage in Akyem Maase.
