E/R:Mpraeso MP Advocates for Infrastructural Expansion in Four Senior High Schools

The Member of Parliament for the Mpraeso Constituency, Davis Opoku Ansah, has made a passionate appeal to the government to prioritize infrastructural expansion in four senior high schools within his constituency. This appeal follows his visit to the schools, where he made donations and observed the challenges brought about by the growing student population under the Free Senior High School initiative.
The schools that benefited from the MP’s donations include Kwahu Obo Ridge Senior High School, Bepong Senior High School, Mpraeso Senior High School, and St. Paul's Senior High School at Asakraka. The donated items included lorry tyres, refrigerators, street light bulbs, dustbins, and other essentials to improve school facilities.

During his visit, Davis Opoku Ansah observed that the Free SHS program had led to a significant increase in student enrolment across the schools, putting pressure on existing infrastructure. He stressed the need for the government to intervene by expanding school facilities to support effective teaching and learning in the area.
“The surge in student numbers is overwhelming the current infrastructure, and if we are to maintain the quality of education in the constituency, there is an urgent need for additional classrooms, dormitories, and other educational facilities,” Opoku Ansah stated during his interaction with school officials and students.
Beyond infrastructural needs, the MP also took the opportunity to address the students on the importance of peace, especially as the country approaches the 2024 general elections. He urged the youth to resist being used for election-related violence, advising them to focus on their education and future careers.
“I appeal to all students to stay away from violence during election periods. Many of the youth are easily manipulated into causing unrest, but this only damages their future. Be wise and stay focused on your education,” he emphasized.
The heads of the schools expressed their gratitude for the MP's donations, acknowledging that the items would go a long way in improving the day-to-day operations of the schools. However, they reiterated the pressing need for infrastructural support, which they believe will ease the strain on resources and create a better learning environment for the students.
“We are grateful for the support, and we hope more assistance will come, particularly in addressing the infrastructural deficits we face,” one of the headmasters remarked.
The Mpraeso MP’s visit and donations have set the stage for further discussions on how best to address the educational challenges facing the constituency. With the growing demand for quality education in the area, the need for government intervention in infrastructure development is more critical than ever.
