E/R:Security Agencies Join Kwahu West MCE for Massive National Sanitation Day Exercise
Nkawkaw, Eastern Region – Security agencies in the Kwahu West Municipality joined hundreds of residents, assembly officials, and volunteers for a joint clean-up exercise to mark this month’s National Sanitation Day.
The exercise, led by the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Tamimu Halidu, saw personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, environmental health officers, and community volunteers engaged in sweeping, weeding, desilting choked gutters, and collecting refuse across parts of Nkawkaw.
Speaking after the exercise, Hon. Halidu commended the security agencies for their massive turnout and praised all participants for responding to President John Dramani Mahama’s call for a national general cleaning exercise.
He noted that the high level of communal spirit displayed reflects the commitment to keeping the municipality clean and healthy.
The Eastern North Regional Police Commander, DCOP George Ankomah, who also participated, described sanitation as a shared responsibility that must go beyond National Sanitation Day.
“Keeping our environment clean should be a daily habit, not a one-day activity,” DCOP Ankomah said. “I encourage residents to protect the environment and maintain clean surroundings, while I also urge our security personnel to sustain this momentum for a healthier and safer community.”
Officials say the joint exercise is part of ongoing efforts to improve sanitation, prevent flooding, and promote public health in the Kwahu West Municipality.
