The donation was made through the Nana Adepa Development Foundation in partnership with the Maryland-based Mission 195 Humanitarian Organization. Held under the theme “Together We Heal, Together We Build Hope,” the donation reflects Nana Adepa’s commitment to the welfare and wellbeing of the people of Akyem Tafo. Speaking at the event, she explained that the gesture was inspired by a personal connection, recalling her late mother’s deep confidence in the Akyem Tafo Government Hospital. She noted that healthcare development remains one of her top priorities for the community.

“Development in health is my ultimate goal for the community, and that is why I made this gesture,” she stated. She further assured hospital management and residents that this would not be the final support, adding that more assistance would be provided once the current supplies are put to good use.

Addressing the gathering, Daasebre Adusei Peasah IV reflected on the history and development of the hospital. He recounted how the facility transitioned from a health centre into a full hospital and highlighted earlier improvements made alongside former Medical Director Dr. Konuah, including the establishment of separate male and female wards to improve patient care and dignity.

He also acknowledged the longstanding logistical and infrastructural challenges the hospital has faced over the years, especially during the period when Akyem Tafo formed part of the former East Akim Municipality. He commended the donors for the timely intervention and appealed to civil society organisations, NGOs, and other benevolent individuals to support the hospital’s continued growth and development.

In a separate interview, the Medical Director of Akyem Tafo Government Hospital, Dr. Eric Boateng, expressed profound gratitude to the donors for the generous contribution, describing it as timely and impactful. He noted that while the donation will greatly improve service delivery at the facility, the hospital continues to face pressing operational challenges that require urgent support.

Dr. Eric Boateng specifically appealed for assistance toward the construction of a modern pediatric centre to improve healthcare services for children. He also stressed the urgent need for a dedicated electricity transformer independent of the community power grid, as well as a modern standby generator to ensure uninterrupted healthcare delivery during power outages.

The donated items include a wide range of essential medical supplies and equipment aimed at strengthening the hospital’s capacity. Among them are advanced adjustable hospital beds, endoscopy equipment, voltage power multifunction regulators, dialysis catheter sets, surgical forceps, suction tubes, blood and specimen collection devices, sterile gloves, face masks, needles, syringes, isolation gowns, paediatric dose kits, hospital linens, and other maintenance supplies.

The donation marks a significant milestone in efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Akyem Tafo and highlights the growing role of traditional leadership, philanthropy, and partnerships in advancing healthcare and community development within the Abuakwa North Municipality.
