E/R: Solomon Nana Frimpong’s Easter Gala and Anti-Drug Campaign Boost Youth Development in Abuakwa South

The Chief Executive Officer of Golden Frimps Company Ltd, Solomon Nana Frimpong, has intensified efforts to promote youth development in the Abuakwa South Constituency through sports and education, earning widespread commendation from stakeholders.

As part of these efforts, Mr. Frimpong organized a successful Easter Intercommunity Gala aimed at fostering unity among communities, empowering young people, and identifying football talents for professional opportunities both locally and internationally.

Speaking to the media during the event, he explained that the initiative seeks to use sports as a tool to bring communities together while creating a platform for talented players to be discovered and nurtured. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Frimpong, popularly known as Sweety.

The tournament, held in two phases, began at the Kyebi Astroturf Park and featured four teams: Akyem Odumase/Amanfrom FC, Akyem Potrase FC, Golden Star FC, and Okanta FC. After a competitive showdown on April 4, 2026, Akyem Odumase/Amanfrom FC emerged champions, followed by Akyem Potrase FC in second place, Golden Star FC in third, and Okanta FC in fourth position.

Prizes awarded included GH₵2,000, jerseys, footballs, and a trophy for the winners. The second-placed team received GH₵1,500, two footballs, and a trophy, while the third-placed team took home GH₵1,000 and a football. The fourth-placed team was awarded GH₵500.

The event attracted several dignitaries, including football stakeholders, former players of Accra Great Olympics, coaches, staff of Golden Frimps Company Ltd, security personnel, community members, representatives of the Susanna Adwoa Frimpongma Appiah-Pimpim Foundation led by General Manager Wesley Danso (Master Cobby), and members of the media.

Beyond sports, Mr. Frimpong has also been championing a strong anti-drug abuse campaign across the municipality. Speaking on Radio 1 100.7 FM during the Oman Nsem programme hosted by Nana Kwabena Addo, he indicated that the campaign is part of a broader strategy to steer the youth away from harmful behaviours and guide them toward productive lives.

According to him, drug abuse poses serious threats to the health and future of young people and places undue pressure on families and society. He noted that combining sports initiatives with education is an effective way to engage the youth positively while raising awareness about such dangers.

His efforts have been widely praised, particularly by Kofi Odame, a member of the Regional Communications Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who described the initiative as timely and impactful.

Mr. Odame commended Mr. Frimpong for his commitment to youth empowerment and for intensifying education on drug abuse. He further called on community members and stakeholders to support the initiative and encouraged its expansion across the municipality.

He emphasized that community-driven interventions such as these are crucial in addressing social challenges and ensuring the development of responsible and productive youth in Abuakwa South.

In his closing remarks at the gala, Mr. Frimpong expressed gratitude to all supporters, participants, and community members for contributing to the success of the programme and assured that such initiatives will be sustained to continuously promote youth development and talent discovery in the area.
