E/R: Barima Pobi Asomaning II Urges Safety and Moderation in Christmas Message to Ghanaians

The Chief of Akyem Akwadum, Barima Pobi Asomaning II, has extended heartfelt Christmas greetings to Ghanaians, with special goodwill messages to the Overlord of Akyem Abuakwa, His Royal Majesty Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, as the year comes to an end.

Speaking on Radio1 100.7 FM during the morning programme “Oman mu Nsem,” hosted by Nana Kwabena Addo, the Chief expressed gratitude to God and to the people of Akyem Akwadum in the Abuakwa South Municipality of the Eastern Region for their continuous support throughout the year.

In his Christmas address, Barima Pobi Asomaning II advised the youth to exercise restraint and responsibility before, during, and after the festive season. He urged young people to be cautious in their eating and drinking habits and to avoid excessive excitement that could lead to reckless motorbike riding and careless driving.

He further cautioned drivers against over-speeding, overloading, and driving under the influence of alcohol, stressing the need for faulty vehicles to be repaired before being put on the road. The Chief also appealed to vehicle owners to refrain from pressuring drivers to rush for financial gain, noting that such practices often contribute to avoidable road accidents during festive periods.

Additionally, he urged the public to be vigilant when purchasing food and other items from the market, advising consumers to check expiry dates to prevent food-related illnesses during and after the Christmas celebrations.

Barima Pobi Asomaning II assured residents of Akyem Akwadum of good health and prosperity in the coming year, expressing confidence that with God’s guidance and the continued support of the people, the community would witness more development in 2026.

He concluded by expressing his appreciation to the palace elders and the people of Akyem Akwadum for their support of his development initiatives. These include the provision of school uniforms, sandals, school bags, and teaching and learning materials to schools, the construction of a community bridge, support for market women, and the provision of potable drinking water for the community.
