E/R:Mercy Korang Confirmed as Fanteakwa South DCE with Unanimous Endorsement: Calls for Unity in Development
The Fanteakwa South District Assembly has officially confirmed Mercy Korang as the new District Chief Executive (DCE), following a resounding 100% endorsement by all Assembly Members during a ceremony held at the District Assembly Hall.
The confirmation event drew a large and diverse crowd, including the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa South, Hon. Duke Ofori Atta, Assembly Members, traditional leaders, political party representatives, and residents, creating an atmosphere of unity and high expectations for progress under the new leadership.
In her acceptance speech, Hon. Mercy Korang expressed deep gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, MP Hon. Duke Ofori Atta, the leadership of the NDC, and the Assembly for the confidence placed in her. She pledged to lead a development-driven administration rooted in the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
She appealed to all stakeholders to join hands in developing the Fanteakwa South District, acknowledging the challenges ahead and emphasizing the importance of collaboration to address them effectively.
MP Hon. Duke Ofori Atta commended the Assembly for the unanimous endorsement and reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance. He urged all stakeholders to put aside political differences and focus on sustainable development that improves the lives of constituents.
He encouraged the new DCE to work closely with him and Assembly Members, especially in upgrading CHPS compounds into clinics and enhancing educational infrastructure across the district.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, also praised the Assembly Members for their overwhelming support, describing it as a testament to the Assembly’s dedication to the government’s “Reset Ghana” agenda. She urged the leadership to always prioritize the interests of the community over personal ambitions.
With a united front and renewed leadership, Fanteakwa South looks forward to a new chapter of inclusive and impactful development.
