Mahama's 'Reset Ghana' Agenda just an Empty Rhetoric — Aaron Asante Criticizes Former President’s Leadership

Aaron Asante, former TESCON President of Kibi Presbyterian College of Education (KPCE), has strongly criticized former President John Dramani Mahama's leadership, describing his much-publicized “Reset Ghana” agenda as nothing more than political rhetoric lacking substance and direction.

According to Asante, Mahama’s return to power has only reignited the very challenges that plagued his previous administration. Within just three months, the nation has once again been hit by persistent power outages—commonly referred to as dumsor—which continue to hamper businesses and disrupt everyday life. This, he argues, serves as a painful reminder of the instability experienced under Mahama’s earlier presidency.

Asante further decried the resurgence of illegal mining activities, known as galamsey, which have escalated under Mahama’s leadership, causing environmental degradation and economic loss. He also cited the mysterious disappearance of 40 excavators, as confirmed by the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Hon. Mutala Mohammed, as a glaring example of poor accountability and oversight.

The former TESCON President did not hold back in pointing out alleged corruption scandals involving the disappearance of 1,300 shipping containers and cocaine worth $1.7 billion—issues he believes raise serious concerns about the administration’s integrity and competence.

Asante also criticized the abandonment of the 24-hour economy initiative, once touted as a game-changer for national productivity and growth. He noted that its neglect underscores the inefficiencies within Mahama’s governance approach.

Furthermore, he expressed concern over widespread dismissals of government workers, which he believes have weakened key institutions and disrupted governance continuity.

Aaron Asante emphasized that while Mahama’s return may have reignited hope among some Ghanaians, the unfolding realities demand more than lofty promises—they require strong, accountable leadership and decisive action.
