Abuakwa North Campaigns for Cleanliness: MCE Yeboah Leads Successful Sanitation Day, Calls for Collective Action

The Abuakwa North Municipality demonstrated a robust commitment to environmental cleanliness this past Saturday, as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Charles Darko Yeboah, widely known as Ozey, spearheaded another impactful National Sanitation Day exercise. The communal cleanup, held in Akyem Old Tafo, garnered enthusiastic participation from a broad spectrum of the community, signaling a growing dedication to a healthier municipality.

The exercise saw the active involvement of key municipal figures, including the Coordinating Director, the Municipal NADMO Director, dedicated staff members of the Municipal Assembly, and representatives from the various security services. Crucially, a significant turnout from the general public joined forces to clear refuse, de-silt drains, and generally beautify the municipality throughout the morning.

Following the successful cleanup, MCE Charles Darko Yeboah, in an exclusive interview with Ghanaweb journalist Eric Obeng Boateng, issued a compelling call to action for all residents. He underscored the vital importance of consistent participation in the National Sanitation Day exercise, highlighting its significance as a national initiative championed by President John Mahama.
"This is not just a local endeavor; it is a national program aimed at fostering a healthier and more sanitary environment for all Ghanaians," stated Charles Yeboah. He emphasized that the exercise, which is constitutionally mandated to take place on the first Saturday of every month, hinges on the collective responsibility and proactive engagement of every citizen.

The MCE further stressed that maintaining a clean environment is not solely the responsibility of the government or the assembly, but a shared duty that requires the consistent effort and commitment of every individual and household within the Abuakwa North Municipality. His address served as a powerful reminder that a cleaner municipality is inherently a healthier and more prosperous one for all its inhabitants.
The evident success of this month's exercise stands as a testament to the dedication of the leadership and the growing commitment of the residents towards achieving a sustainably cleaner and healthier Abuakwa North.
