E/R:Rev. Minister Urges Ghanaian Youth to Persevere and Unlock Their Potential

The District Minister of the Adweso Trinity Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Eric Yeboah, has encouraged Ghanaian youth—particularly the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates—to remain resilient, diligent, and focused as they strive to achieve their dreams.

Speaking at the 17th Annual Graduation and Thanksgiving Ceremony of Trinity Presbyterian Model School in Adweso, a suburb of Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Rev. Yeboah underscored the importance of perseverance and hard work in the face of life’s challenges.

“Success is not easily attained,” Rev. Yeboah noted. “But with hard work, resilience, and determination, your efforts will yield a brighter future.”

He advised students to take their academic journey seriously, encouraging them to be role models through excellence in their studies. For those pursuing vocational training, he urged them to apply their skills diligently to achieve their life goals.

Reflecting on the ceremony’s theme, “Celebrating the End of One Chapter and the Start of Another,” Rev. Yeboah highlighted graduation as a time of transition, growth, and opportunity. He encouraged students to remember their roots and use their heritage as motivation to succeed and uplift their communities.

He also acknowledged the vital role played by parents, teachers, and government agencies in shaping the students’ academic journey and urged continued collaboration to promote national development.

Rev. Yeboah concluded by praying for God’s guidance in the lives of the students, encouraging them to resist negative peer pressure, avoid social vices, and remain committed to their goals.

“Though life may not always be fair, stay focused. Make choices that will positively impact your life and society,” he charged.

He also praised government efforts to improve the education sector, citing policies and interventions aimed at making quality education more accessible.

Established in the 1996/97 academic year, Trinity Presbyterian Model School was founded to serve the growing population of Adweso. Over the past 25 years, it has earned a reputation as the top-performing public basic school in the municipality.

With an enrollment of over 1,000 pupils from Basic One to Junior High School, the school has achieved a remarkable 100% BECE pass rate since its JHS program was introduced two decades ago.

This year, a total of 110 students—42 boys and 68 girls—sat for the BECE, undertaking subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Religious and Moral Education, Career Technology, Creative Arts, Akuapem Twi, French, and Computing. They now await their results with anticipation.

Headmistress Mrs. Vivian Obuobisa-Darko, in her address, expressed pride in the school’s accomplishments, stating that the founders’ vision of building a quality public model school had not only been realized but surpassed expectations.

“The theme captures the essence of reflection and new beginnings. The phrase ‘The Best Is Yet To Come’ fills us with optimism and hope,” she said.

Mrs. Obuobisa-Darko reaffirmed the school’s longstanding record of academic excellence and expressed confidence that the current batch would uphold that tradition.

She also offered a heartfelt prayer, seeking divine wisdom and strength for the candidates as they transition to the next phase of their education.

As part of the ceremony, the outgoing Students’ Representative Council (SRC) officially handed over leadership to the newly elected executives. The symbolic transition marked the beginning of a new era, as the incoming leaders pledged to build on the foundation laid by their predecessors.

Certificates of testimonial were presented to all 110 graduating students in recognition of their dedication and achievements during their eight-year educational journey. The presentation was jointly done by Mrs. Vivian Obuobisa-Darko and Rev. Eric Yeboah on behalf of the school and the church.
