E/R: Mass Defection: Over 1,500 NDC Supporters Join NPP in Nsawam Adoagyiri
In a notable political development, more than 1,500 supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have shifted their allegiance to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Constituency of the Eastern Region.
Munkaila Garibah, also known as Home Boga, who led the group, revealed in an interview with Peace FM’s Eastern Regional Correspondent, Michael Akrofi, that their decision to switch to the NPP was driven by the positive impact of developmental projects executed by the NPP administration in their Zongo community. He explained that despite a history of voting against the NPP based on claims from their elders that the party would repatriate them if elected, they now see these warnings as baseless.
"Our elders in the Zongo community warned us against supporting the NPP, telling us we would be expelled if they gained power. We listened and voted against them, but Hon. Annoh Dompreh, our MP, has consistently delivered development to our community and never abandoned us. We've come to realize that the NPP is genuinely interested in our progress, which is why we have decided to leave the NDC," Garibah stated.
He called on all eligible voters to come together and support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Hon. Annoh Dompreh by voting massively for the NPP in the 2024 elections.
Hon. Annoh Dompreh thanked the party's leadership, local elders, and the Zongo community for their continued dedication to the NPP. He emphasized that the decision to join the party was made freely by the defectors, demonstrating their genuine belief in the NPP's vision.
The MP also highlighted the NPP’s notable accomplishments within the Zongo community, including the construction of an AstroTurf, a library, and various infrastructure projects. He emphasized these achievements as clear signs of the NPP's commitment to the well-being of the Zongo community and their respect for the Islamic faith.
Hon. Annoh Dompreh remarked that the defection of these NDC supporters is a testament to the NPP's impact and predicted that even more people would follow, referring to this growing support as a "political Jihad" where the defectors are aligning their political choices with their religious values in favor of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP.
He concluded by stating that both Christians and Muslims are now rallying behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP due to his remarkable achievements and inclusive vision. He expressed confidence that the NDC would suffer a significant defeat in the 2024 elections against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP.
