‎Kristo Asafo Mission Denies Shooting Claims as Police Arrest Six Over Kwabenya Church Incident ‎

‎*Accra* – The leadership of Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana has dismissed reports circulating on social media that a woman was shot at its church premises, describing the claims as “false and misleading.”

‎In a statement issued for immediate release on Saturday, June 21, 2026, the church said the incident occurred at its Kwabenya property after a lawful church event had ended.

‎According to the release, Sarah Adwoa Safo arrived at the venue and “forcefully drove her vehicle into the entrance gates of the property.” The church stated that her vehicle struck two metallic gates, causing substantial damage to both structures.

‎The mission noted that numerous worshippers and invited guests were still on the premises at the time, with some seated close to the entrance. It added that the act created a serious risk to life and property, stressing that the safety of attendees could have been “gravely endangered” if the gates had collapsed or the vehicle had proceeded further.

Security personnel on duty intervened to prevent further escalation, with the church saying their actions were “directed solely toward preserving public safety and preventing injury to attendees.”

‎The statement also addressed unverified media reports claiming that Sarah Adwoa Safo was shot by her brother during the incident. The church categorically rejected the allegation and said it had no information to confirm any shooting occurred. It described the “purported victim presentation” as an apparent attempt to create a false impression of a gunshot injury.

‎Meanwhile, police have confirmed the arrest of six persons in connection with the shooting incident as investigations continue. Authorities say the suspects are assisting with inquiries to establish the full facts of what transpired.

‎Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo is currently in the hospital receiving medical treatment, though details of her condition have not been disclosed.

‎Kristo Asafo Mission has called on relevant authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into all aspects of the incident. It further urged the public to refrain from drawing conclusions based on unverified social media reports and to allow law enforcement agencies to establish the facts through due process.

‎“Our organization remains committed to peace, truth, the rule of law, and the safety of all persons who attend our events,” the statement signed by the Church Leadership concluded.

‎Police say investigations are ongoing.
