Amenfi Central, Western Region – The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, is making significant strides in transforming the constituency through an ambitious development agenda focused on healthcare, education, security, road infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
As part of efforts to improve access to quality healthcare, several Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds are at various stages of construction across the constituency. These include facilities at Ankwaso, Sraha Ayiem, Ankasie, Jedua Kese, Adidaase, and Hiawa. A maternity block with a theatre is also under construction at Manso Amenfi to enhance maternal and emergency healthcare services.
In a further boost to healthcare delivery, medical equipment valued at GH¢1.5 million has been donated to the Manso Amenfi Health Centre as part of plans to upgrade the facility into a district hospital.
The education sector is equally benefiting from the MP's intervention. New classroom blocks are under construction at Kramokrom, Sompre, and Agona Camp, while work continues on educational facilities at Wuratrem DA Primary and Ankasie DA Primary Schools. To address the shortage of teachers, 35 community teachers have been employed across 28 basic schools, positively impacting the education of 8,829 pupils.
Security and road infrastructure development also feature prominently in the constituency's transformation drive. New police stations are under construction at Sraha Ayiem and Achichire to improve law enforcement and emergency response services.
Additionally, major road projects, including the 19-kilometre Akyere Kwamang–Anyinabrem road, the 17-kilometre Anyinabrem–Bonuamah–Armahkrom stretch, and the 53-kilometre Asankragua–Agona Amenfi–Sefwi Bekwai road, are expected to be completed by the end of 2026, significantly improving transportation and connectivity within the area.
To stimulate local economic growth and create employment opportunities, construction of a 24-hour economy market at Agona Amenfi and a new market at Juabo is underway. A block factory established within the constituency is also providing jobs for local youth, with approximately GH¢40,000 paid out weekly in wages.
Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe stated that her development agenda is aimed at expanding access to essential services while promoting economic activity across both urban and rural communities. Community leaders have praised her efforts, describing her leadership as transformative and visionary, with a focus on addressing immediate community needs while laying a strong foundation for long-term development.
