E/R:Osino-Akyease Assemblyman Demonstrates Strong Commitment to Residents with Lifesaving Borehole Project

The Assembly Member for the Osino-Akyease Electoral Area in the Eastern Region, Hon. James Ayim Kwabena, has once again proven his dedication to the welfare of his constituents by spearheading the construction of a mechanized borehole project aimed at addressing the area's long-standing water crisis.

The project, which is being supported by humanitarian organization World Vision, is currently underway and, upon completion, is expected to provide clean and safe drinking water to several communities within and around Osino-Akyease.

Speaking to the media, Hon. Kwabena reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to solving the community's pressing challenges. He disclosed that the borehole construction is progressing steadily and is on track to be completed within the scheduled timeframe.

“This is more than just a project—it’s a promise I made to my people,” he stated. “Access to clean water is a basic necessity, and I’m committed to ensuring that every household in this electoral area can live in dignity, without the daily struggle for water.”

The Assemblyman noted that the borehole is expected to ease the burden on families, improve public health, support small businesses, and allow schoolchildren to attend classes regularly without being delayed by the time-consuming search for water.

In addressing the root cause of the water crisis, Hon. Kwabena also spoke candidly about the devastating environmental impact of illegal mining, which has polluted rivers and destroyed natural water sources across the region. While he acknowledged the economic role mining plays, he stressed the importance of transitioning to responsible practices.

“We may not be able to stop mining entirely,” he said, “but we must demand that it be done responsibly. Our forests and water bodies must be protected if we care about the future of our children.”

Residents have commended Hon. Kwabena for what many describe as a proactive and compassionate leadership style, citing this water project as the latest example of his hands-on approach to solving community issues. Many expressed optimism that the borehole will soon bring the relief they desperately need, restoring both comfort and dignity to their daily lives.
