E/R: Fanteakwa South Celebrates Excellence at 3rd Teachers Awards Ceremony

The Fanteakwa South District Education Directorate has honoured outstanding teachers and non-teaching staff for their exceptional contributions to education during the 3rd Annual Teachers Awards Ceremony held in the Eastern Region.


The event, themed “Igniting Passion for an Educational Reset,” recognized dedicated educators from the Kindergarten, Primary, Junior High School, Senior High School levels, as well as non-teaching staff.


Rev. Edmund Asante, Administrative Officer at New Nsutam Senior High Technical School, emerged as the Overall Best Teacher, receiving a refrigerator and a microwave. Other awardees also took home prizes including laptops, refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, irons and certificates.


Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Richard Akosah-Addo, Fanteakwa South District Director of Education, commended the awardees for their professionalism, hard work, and commitment to promoting quality education in the district. He expressed optimism that such recognition would motivate more educators to pursue excellence and help build a culture of high academic standards.

Mr. Akosah-Addo also extended appreciation to Mr. Emmanuel Gama, CEO of GAMA Company Ltd, for his continuous support toward educational development, and thanked school managements for backing the awards initiative.


Speaking on behalf of the CEO, Mr. Oppong Dankwa applauded teachers for their crucial role in shaping learners. He emphasised that discipline, guidance, and motivation remain key to students’ success, adding that GAMA Company’s support aims to encourage teachers to achieve greater outcomes and position the district as a model of excellence.


In his acceptance remarks, Rev. Edmund Asante expressed surprise and gratitude for the recognition. He thanked his students for inspiring him to work harder and urged fellow teachers to maintain high standards, highlighting that educators shape character, values, and future leaders beyond the classroom.

Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, the parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South Constituency, has extended a generous hand to support local youth and artisans. In a heartwarming ceremony held at Akyem Maase, Dr. Agyeman, along with key New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executives, donated essential equipment and financial support to aspiring apprentices in dressmaking and hairdressing. Koforidua, Ghana – The Eastern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has inaugurated a nine-member illegal mining task force to combat the growing menace of galamsey and protect the region’s lands, forests, and water bodies for future generations.
