E/R:YOUR LABOUR IN THE LORD WILL NEVER BE IN VAIN
The 48th Anniversary of the Bible Study & Prayer Group of the Ascension Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Koforidua in the Eastern Region was celebrated with a thanksgiving service, led by Catechist Hayford Ansah Asiedu (Rtd) and Presbyter Grace Okyem.
The theme for the celebration was "Celebrating Our Heritage, Persisting in Mission, Evangelism, and Discipleship," and the sermon was delivered by the Second Minister, Reverend Moses Ansong.
Rev. Moses Ansong, in his message, elaborated on the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the first fruit of resurrection, emphasizing that without that, the Christian faith would be in vain, and the dead would remain in their graves forever.
He urged believers to remain steadfast, immovable, and always abounding in the works of the Lord, knowing that their labor would never be in vain and at the marking of the Bible Study and Prayer Group's 48th milestone, Rev. Moses Ansong encouraged members to remain committed to their faith and mission.
Rev. Ansong further emphasized that those who hear and obey the word of the Lord are like wise men who build their houses on solid foundation, ensuring stability and endurance. Conversely, he said those who do not remain steadfast in the Lord are like those who build on sinking sand and that those are the ones whose structures will ultimately be destroyed.
He stressed the importance of evangelism and highlighted different methods, including sharing Bible verses and biblical messages on social media, crusades, house-to-house evangelism, ministering the word of God to others, and One-on-One teaching and sharing of the gospel.
He noted however that preaching the word of God comes with challenges such as insults, spiritual and physical attacks, name-calling, lack of resources, and persecution from family, friends, and colleagues. He cited Apostle Paul’s experiences; including flogging, imprisoned, and getting bound. He said in all these, we should remain resolute in the mission of the Lord.
Rev. Ansong encouraged believers not to be discouraged by such challenges. He assured them that their labor in the Lord would never be in vain and that their toil and commitment will be rewarded.
He concluded by reminding the congregation of Christ’s promise: "Blessed are those who suffer persecution, for they shall receive the crown of life and manifold blessings beyond what they have lost."
Finally, he extended invitation to the congregation and encouraging more members to join the Bible Study & Prayer Group to actively participate in evangelism within and beyond the church to win more souls for Christ.
