E/R:Akyem Ati Queen Mother Marks First Anniversary, Prioritizes Education, Health, and Youth Development
The Queen Mother of Akyem Ati, Nana Brempomah Amoafoa II, has reaffirmed her commitment to making education and social development her top priorities as part of efforts to drive national growth.
Speaking to the media during the climax of her one-year anniversary celebration on the stool on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, Nana Amoafoa II, a former Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, stressed that education remains the most powerful tool for community and national transformation.
As part of the celebration, she distributed 4,000 exercise books to pupils in all basic schools within the community through the Municipal Education Directorate, headed by Mrs. Grace Adza-Wude. In addition, she sponsored 22 needy but brilliant students, providing them with school uniforms, exercise books, shoes, and bags to support and motivate them while easing the financial burden on their parents.
Beyond education, the Queen Mother highlighted her efforts in improving healthcare. She disclosed that in collaboration with Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, former MP for Abuakwa North, she has been able to provide a CHPS compound to address the health needs of the community. She added that plans are underway to extend a similar project to Sabon Zongo, a community within Akyem Ati.
Nana Amoafoa II expressed gratitude to her sponsors for supporting her vision and pledged to expand her interventions in education, health, and youth development in the years ahead.
Touching on challenges facing the community, she raised concerns about boundary disputes that have long shadowed Akyem Ati by New Tafo, land litigations, and the rising menace of youth involvement in drugs. She cautioned the youth against drug abuse and quick-money schemes such as internet fraud, urging them instead to embrace hard work and skills training. She revealed that plans are underway with government and other partners to equip the youth with employable skills as a sustainable solution.
On her part, Mrs. Grace Adza-Wude, the Municipal Education Director, commended the Queen Mother for her dedication to education and encouraged parents to complement such efforts by ensuring their wards study hard. She reiterated that education is the key to development and called on the community to embrace it fully.
