E/R – Kyebi: Parents Urged to Encourage Wards to Pursue TVET Education

The Head of Training, Assessment, and Quality Assurance at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, Mr. Samuel Debrah, has appealed to parents to encourage their children to choose TVET institutions as viable educational pathways.

According to him, the TVET sector is a critical pillar in driving Ghana’s economic transformation, equipping students with practical skills that prepare them for both employment and entrepreneurship.

Mr. Debrah made the call at Kyebi in the Abuakwa South Municipality, during the maiden graduation ceremony of the Kibi Technical Institute, where more than 200 students successfully graduated.

Highlighting government’s efforts to enhance TVET education, he mentioned the ongoing upgrade and retooling of all former NVTI institutions, the construction of new facilities, renovation of existing structures, and the establishment of apprenticeship offices across the regions.

He stressed that these interventions were designed to expand access and improve the quality of technical and vocational education, urging parents to take advantage by guiding their wards toward TVET institutions.

Meanwhile, the Principal of Kibi Technical Institute, Mr. Isaac Nana Yaw Adom, acknowledged the progress made but also drew attention to some challenges facing the school. He appealed to stakeholders and authorities for urgent support to strengthen teaching and learning in the institution.
