E/R:Akyem Maase Chief Welcomes NADMO Director, Backs Disaster Risk Reduction Campaign and Agriculture Drive
The Abuakwa South Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Aikins Ofori, on Sunday, 28th September 2025, paid a courtesy call on Osabarima Adu Asare Bosompen I, Chief of Akyem Maase, in the Eastern Region, during the celebration of Akwasidae. The visit was to formally introduce himself to the traditional authority and the elders of the town, as well as to brief them on the upcoming International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR) 2025, scheduled to be observed at Akyem Maase on 6th October 2025. Mr. Ofori praised the Chief for his proactive leadership in promoting agriculture over illegal mining activities, which remain a pressing concern in many parts of the Eastern Region. He particularly highlighted the efforts of a local yam farmer who has successfully cultivated several acres of yam, describing such ventures as commendable and worthy of support.
